The Brightside Trust's vision is of a world where no talented and motivated individual is excluded from achieving their potential or dream because of poverty, lack of privilege or any other disadvantage.
Our overall purpose is to create opportunities for individuals to achieve their potential, whatever their background, by providing contacts, support, resources, training and encouragement as necessary - so helping them overcome some of the hurdles that circumstances throw at them.
The Brightside Trust was founded by a group of entrepreneurs from the pharmaceutical sector who have had very successful business careers and would now like to give others the chance to achieve their own potential.
The Trust's scope is broad. Our long-term intention is to create programmes supporting gifted and talented individuals in a wide range of contexts, including vocational pathways; technology and media careers; sports excellence, and the arts. However, the first initiatives will focus on science-oriented pupils in recognition of the Trust's background and areas of expertise.
Our approach is to work with central and local government initiatives, schools, student bodies, specialist education and skills providers, businesses and communities to create joined-up thinking and maximise return on all investments for disadvantaged individuals.
We add value by contributing not only funds but also practical resources and support, including volunteer time, mentoring expertise and access to a wide range of skills and corporations.
